Each day 10,000 humans are born in the US - and each day 70,000 puppies and kittens are born. As long as these birth rates exist, there will never be enough homes for all the animals. As a result, every year 4 to 6 million animals are euthanized because there are no homes for them.

For dog owners, few things are scarier than Canine Parvovirus (parvo). Parvo is a extremely transmittable virus that affects dogs of all ages, but it’s especially common in puppies, and if not medicated immediately, it can lead to their death. Parvo is transmitted through direct or indirect connection with canine feces.

But don’t think that your dog is only at risk if he breathes in or licks or eats another dog’s feces……parvo can be transmitted by the trails of feces on the soles of your shoes which your dog may come in contact with.

The best method to cure a dog which contracted such a virus is by early intervention, and this can only be done by knowing the most common parvo symptoms.

Below are the 5 most common parvo symptoms every dog owners should be cautious about and know to watch out for:

- Is your dog suddenly showing signs of lethargy? Is he lazy all of a sudden, as if all the energy he once possessed has just been zapped off out him?

- Does your dog have diarrhea? Is his feces filled with blood, or noticeable trails of blood?

- Is your dog suffering an unusually high fever? If so, is it coupled with two or more of the other parvo symptoms pointed out in this list?

- Is your dog vomiting more than five times every day? Is the throwing up accompanied by a sudden loss of appetite?

- Does your dog produce an unexpected or strong oder a week or so after demonstrating any of the parvo symptoms pointed out above?

The likelihood of your pet’s continued existence depends on how early you can provide treatment. Therefore, you should know identify these parvo symptoms by heart, so that you can find out - at the earliest possible stage - when your dog needs expert remedial help.
