My dogs and I would love to know more about YOU and YOUR FURBABY (or babies!) Send over a photo of your dog (under 200kb, please) along with a short description/bio (4 - 6 lines) to me at agirl@agirlandherdogs.com and I will post it under The Dog Park! If you want to submit a photo and bio of a special dog that has passed, I will post it under Memory Lane / Rainbow Bridge. We look forward to meeting all of you!

Each day 10,000 humans are born in the US - and each day 70,000 puppies and kittens are born. As long as these birth rates exist, there will never be enough homes for all the animals. As a result, every year 4 to 6 million animals are euthanized because there are no homes for them.

Dog Poem - “My Puppy” (by Aileen Fisher - cute!)

MY PUPPY

It’s funny
my puppy
knows just how I feel.

When I’m happy
he’s yappy
and squirms like an eel.

When I’m grumpy
and stays at my heel.

It’s funny
my puppy
knows such a great deal.

This is WRONG! Didn’t you notice the rhythm doesn’t work? Please stop copying and spreading bad versions of this woman’s wonderful work! IT should be:

    Susan,

Thank you so much for your friendly email and your kind and gentle way of letting me know that the place where I got this lovely poem (http://www.dogquotes.com/mypuppy.htm) had posted it incorrectly, and therefore my version was also incorrect.

I apologize if in any way I myself, or any of my dogs, have insulted you or the honestly very talented and accomplished poet of this poem (Aileen Fisher - who does wonderful work) - it was never our intention to incorrectly post or spread bad versions of her work. I will change it today (as soon as I can, I assure you) and I will be sure to give you all the credit for bringing this misprint to my attention in such a friendly and considerate way!

Thank you so much, Susan! I hope you have a fabulous weekend and thank you SO much for visiting our site and for contacting us!!

    Warmly and Sincerely,
A Girl and Her Dogs :)

P.S. - Oh, to explain why I did not ‘notice’ that the rhyming was off - I actually did, but as one who is a lover of poetry and art in all forms, I understand that art is subjective and that each person writes a poem in a different way, and with different cadence, and although there are rules to poetry in general, rules in art are made to be broken - therefore I reserve judgment on how I think a poem should sound or go, because since I am not the writer, I don’t know what they were going to say, so how could I judge it as incomplete?

But you are very correct on the original form of this poem, and I do very much appreciate you letting me know this version was incorrect. :)
